Gavin Cooley is an Indie Folk and Alternative artist from Indianapolis, Indiana. Frequently compared to the likes of S. Carey, Sufjan Stevens, and Elliott Smith, Cooley makes quiet and warm music that features fingerpicked acoustic guitars, reverb-soaked electrics, and his whisper of a falsetto.
He began writing songs and playing shows around Central Indiana his freshman year at Noblesville High School. His debut release, Because I’m Dreaming, was recorded in Room 3109 at his school’s recording studio. In that time, he also created the Fourth Friday Young Songwriters Series with Logan Street Sanctuary. The monthly showcase books local high school songwriters to put a spotlight on the diverse talent of artists in the area.
In the fall of 2018, Gavin received the Nickel Plate Arts Emerging Artist of the Year award, and shortly thereafter was awarded the Service to Local Arts award from Logan Street Sanctuary. January, 2019, was the one year anniversary of his concert series.
Gavin is currently working on his next release, a collection of bedroom recordings entitled The Snow Demos: 2019, which is set for release exclusively on Bandcamp in mid-February.
